DOUBLE CHAMPIONS!

St. Osyth Cricket Club have just completed the most successful season in the Club’s history.

The First Eleven won Division One of the Piri Piri North Essex Cricket League for the first time ever. It is only the second time in the 35 year history of the league that the winner has come from Tendring District, and some 24 years following the last local winner with Elmstead CC’s victory in 1987.

The First Team will next year compete in the prestigious Piri Piri North Essex Cricket League Premier Division, alongside the best clubs in southern East Anglia.

That challenge will have to wait for seven months now, the Club at the moment are content to look back on a season to savour and celebrate the fantastic accomplishments of an outstanding year.

There were many fantastic individual performances that, put together, made this the best year ever for the Club. Foremost amongst these were:

* Scott Fraser 1,355 runs and 63 wickets.

* James Handscombe 1,184 runs and 41 wickets.

* Chanaka Vithanage 1,098 runs and 44 wickets.

It takes an exceptional year for one player to make 1,000 runs in a season, to have three players achieve this feat, and to take 148 wickets between them, is truly fantastic.
