St Osyth Cricket Club Awards Night
St. Osyth Cricket Club’s players, families and their guests celebrated their most successful season ever at the Club’s Annual Awards Night held at the Ocean Bar, Clacton-on-Sea, on Friday 14th October.
The Club’s First Team were Champions of Division One of the Piri Piri North Essex League whilst the Second Eleven were Champions of Division Eight of the Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship.
Club Chairman Mark Shuttleworth presented the Club cups and trophies to the winners as follows:
Dennis Peirson Batting Cup: James Handscombe.
Dennis Peirson Bowling Cup: Scott Fraser.
Jack Bareham Fielding Cup: James Bean.
Digby Shuttleworth Cup for Young Player of the Year: Jake Sawford.
Norman Hazell Cup for Most Improved Player: Nick De’Ath.
R&R Contractors Shield for Best 2nd XI Batsman: Scott Fraser.
Bob Scott Shield for Best 2nd XI Bowler: James Handscombe.
President’s Cup for Clubman of the Year: Dean Williams.
Chairman’s Shield for Best Individual Performance: Chanaka Vithanage.
Captains’ Trophy: Ross Evans.
Mark Shuttleworth made special mention of the following three players for their outstanding contribution across the year:
Scott Fraser 1,355 runs and 63 wickets.
James Handscombe 1,184 runs and 41 wickets.
Chanaka Vithanage 1,098 runs and 44 wickets.
He also thanked all of the Club’s Officers, caterers and Groundsman Craig Scott for their fantastic contributions to such a successful and enjoyable season. He paid particular tribute and gave special thanks to the Club’s sponsors, GCS Alarms and Hutley’s Caravans, for their generous support in making such a marvellous season possible.

Sunday 11th September - The club will be hosting a BBQ in order to help raise funds for the future of St Osyth's young players. Starting at 7pm the BBQ will have a selection of food and there will be plenty of soft drinks and alcohol avaliable from our well stocked bar.
As well as this there will be activities throughout such as, a bowl out competition for everyone to see who is the most accurate bowler. There will be a colts vs parents game to determine what generation is best, and there will also be a raffle for a chance to win some prizes supplied by local businesses. Everybody is welcome to come and attend to have a good time and help fund the development for the next generation of St Osyth players. |
