An excellent unbeaten century partnership from Sam and Alex Hennessy saw St Osyth register a much-needed win against Felixstowe II in one of the few matches to be completed due to Saturday’s appalling weather conditions.

St Osyth v Felixstowe

 

St Osyth won by 43 runs

 

St Osyth defeated Felixstowe by 43 runs in Division C.

 

St Osyth, with only 9 players, batted first and captain Nick De’ath top scored

with 47. James Handscombe made 38, and a pleasing fifty-run stand for the 6th wicket from

Harry Nightingale (30) and Chris Downes(27) saw Toosey through to 183 all out.

 

For Felixstowe, Hunter Elliston scored 41 at the top of the innings, but when he was out, the score

was 70-5 as James Bean (3-52) and Ross Evans (4-44) got amongst the wickets. Charlie Hitchen kept Felixstowe in touch, making 38 before Chris Downes came on to take the last 3 wickets and dismiss the visitors for 140.

East Bergholt II  won by 11 runs

 

St Osyth continued their losing run, this time losing out by 11 runs to East Bergholt II to leave them dangerously close to the relegation places in Division 7.

West Mersea v St Osyth

 

West Mersea won by 7 wickets

 

A much-depleted St Osyth side suffered another defeat in Division 7 losing at 

West Mersea by 7 wickets.

 

St Osyth batted first with James Handscombe and Jason Lloyd posting 101 in 23 overs.

Handscombe played some nicely executed shots as he went onto score 69, and with Nick Shuttleworth

playing an fine innings of 51, Toosey made a respectable 194-7.

 

Although St Osyth got a wicket in the first over, Mersea quickly went on the offensive as Luke Bruce

played a selection of fine shots, which raced away through the lightning-fast outfield. He dominated the innings striking no fewer than 21 fours on his way to an unbeaten century, which saw his side home for the loss of just 3 wickets in 26 overs.
