Felixstowe v St Osyth

St Osyth won by 15 runs

St Osyth defeated Felixstowe by 15 runs in a close game in Two Counties Division C.

Visitors Toosey batted first with Jason Lloyd scoring 48 and James Bean 28 at the top of the innings.

A useful stand of 55 between Nick Shuttleworth and Nick De’ath in the later stages saw St Osyth make 174-6 with De’ath batting well for 42.

Some fine bowling and fielding enabled St Osyth to restrict Felixstowe to 100-7, but the hosts then fought back with Brian Nichols and Jon Mason adding 57 for the 8th wicket before Ross Evans came back  to take 2 wickets in the final over to return an excellent 5-52. James Bean and Harry Nightingale also picked up wickets at Felixstowe finished on 159-9.

St Osyth v Brightlingsea

St Osyth won by 65 runs

St Osyth took to the field for their first match of the season, and started off with a win against Brightlingsea in Two Counties Division C.

Batting first, St Osyth scored 225-8 in their 45 overs with Sean Hennessy making 68, sharing in a stand of 89 with James Handscombe, who made 47. Chris Downes also batted well for 33 in his first match for a couple of seasons.

A youthful Brightlingsea side responded with 160-2 and although they didn’t challenge the Toosey total, there were promising innings from James Bees and Sam Day, who both finished with unbeaten fifties in a partnership of 99.
